Kochan
Boris Kochan is a corporate designer and entrepreneur, book maker and publisher, consultant and managing partner of the design and communications agency, Kochan & Partner. After completing training in layout and typography at Wieland Sternagel, he gathered professional experience in journalism at the national daily newspaper, the Süddeutsche Zeitung, as well as in the typesetting studio of Lothar Wolf and the lithography department at Jürgen Höflich offset and screen printing. 1981 Boris Kochan teamed up with friends and established a graphics and text agency. Two years later, they expanded it to typography and litho; in 1989, ZELIG-DRUCK printing was added; and in 1995, it grew to include PEPPERMIND, its interactive unit. With more than sixty employees, Kochan & Partner is today one of the ten largest owner-operated CD/CI agencies in Germany. Since 1986, Boris Kochan has presented lectures and run seminars on the topics of communication, corporate identity/corporate design and social marketing. He is Chairman of the GRANSHAN writing competition and a juror at various design competitions, including the Berliner Type. In April 2007 he was elected the first chairman of the Typographische Gesellschaft München e.V. (the Munich typography society). In June 2007 he was appointed to the German committee of the Type Directors Club of New York, and in 2011 and elected to the board of the iF Industrie Forum Design eV.
